Using sophisticated measuring and recording devices, like the Trimble GeoExplorer 6000 series and the Contour XLRic Laser Rangefinder, they've already learned alot about the killer tsunami that hit Japan. They are hopeful their findings will lead to the design of new defenses to help the Japanese and others avoid disaster in the future.
